Illness & Injury Diagnostic Tools

 

The Internet contains a wealth of information about injuries and illnesses.  But before you can narrow your search you

oftentimes need to have a clue about what you are facing.  The following sites had diagnostic tools to help you identify

the issue as well as a treasure box of information on different issues.

 

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/DiseasesIndex/DiseasesIndex Mayo Clinic’s site which provides both a first-aid guide

for medical emergencies as well as bruises and black eyes.  It also has a symptom checker to help identify illnesses and

articles on various health situations.

 

http://www.freemd.com   FreeMD is a free interactive medical library, written by doctors, that helps you make important

health decisions. It is powered by a program that analyzes more that 3,000 symptoms and injuries, across all age groups. 

It will provide you will answers to: what might be causing your symptoms, when should you see a doctor, what kind of

doctor should you see, and how can you care for yourself.

has a Health Encyclopedia that lists the developmental abilities of kids and youth as well as information on various issues

(eye care, dental care, nutrition, etc.).  It also has Illness Diagnosis information that gives descriptions of various ailments as

well as links to sites specializing in various diseases (e.g. kidney, liver, lung, bleeding).

 

http://kidshealth.org/index.html is Nemours Foundation’s site which contains a wealth of doctor-approved health information

about children from before birth through adolescence.  It has a Parents Section as well as a Kids Section and a Teens Section. 

The Parent’s Section includes materials on infections, general health, emotions and behavior, growth and development

(e.g. how to communicate with a 4 month old), first aid instruction sheets (e.g. for broken bones, animal bites, falls,
