What is the Foundation Course?   This is a survey of over 24 topics that are frequently encountered in ministry.  The subjects are covered over 14 weeks (time frame may vary depending on holidays,etc.). This course is mostly held online*. Topics examined in this course are:   1.  Spiritual Disciplines #1 2.  Spiritual Disciplines #2 3.  Communication Skills 4.  Introduction to Theology 5.  Bible Overview & Study Methods 6.  Goal Setting and Evaluation 7.  Relationships (family, volunteers, peer, staff) 8   Ethics for Pastors    9.  Corporate Worship 10. Visitation and Pastoral Care 11. Introduction to the Old Testament     12. Introduction to the New Testament                      13. History of the Christian Faith/Church History 14. Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)  15. Ministering with Conflict 16. Weddings and Funerals (death & dying issues) 17. Stewardship 18. Church Administration 19. Counseling 20. Preaching and Teaching 21. Group Dynamics/Small Groups 22. Learning issues & styles 23. Connecting people with God #1        24. Connecting people with God #2   *All session can be taken on line if that best meets the participant's needs.   For each session participants receive emailed Participant's Notes to help them with the material, as well as Pre-session Questions and a Post-Session Evaluation which encourages participants to apply what was looked at in the session.  Because of the fast pace of this course and the number of topics additional readings are not required. Schedule  Five topics will be covered in a one-day workshop to begin the series**.  The next 12 topics will be covered in 14 webinars. Each webinar will last 1.25 hours*.  (Note: These session will be recorded and available for a limited time in case a student is not available at the designated time for the call.)  A final five topics will be covered in a concluding one-day workshop.**  An online blog will also be available for continuing conversation.   *The Old and New Testament sessions are double sessions and so are 2.25 hours in length. **The one-day face to face workshop can be done online if a participant is unable to make the trip.   Certificate Requirements  Participation in or listening to the recording of each session is required for earning the Foundations Course Participation Certificate.  In addition a retention and application test is offered.    Cost  The fee for the Foundations Course is $395.00.  Individual courses can be taken at a per/course cost of $25.
