Giving Methods
With the move from a society based on cash or checks to one that more and more heavily relies on credit & debit
cards or electronic withdrawals from bank accounts to disperse payments the church is challenged to expand the
methods it uses to accept donations. Below are a few of the companies and present charges for these services.
The presence or absence of a company on this list in no way communicates a valuing or recommendation of their
services. Prospective customers need to pursue due diligence in following up and confirming this information.
Some questions to pursue with vendors include: do they differentiate between qualified and non-qualified
credit card transactions? If so what are the different rates and criterion used? Do they maintain credit/debit card
or account numbers? If so how are they secured?
Vanco Services (800-744-9355 or https://www.vancoservices.com/secure/vanco_login.htm )
(Vanco said they are the recommended service by the Lutheran, UCC and Methodist Churches)
Vanco does not require long term contracts.
Donations from Checking or Savings Accounts:
What is EFT? Ideal for recurring donations, Electronic Funds Transfer (a.k.a. EFT, Electronic
Giving, or Automatic Donation) is a secure electronic transfer of an authorized donation from
your donor's checking or savings account into your organization's bank account.
How does EFT work? After you collect your donors' signed authorization forms, simply make a one-time
entry of their information via Vanco's Online Service Center and the rest is completely
automated. Vanco's Implementation representatives will provide ongoing assistance. If you don't have access
to the Internet, their staff will do the data entry for you for an additional $1 fee.
EFT Fees
• One-time authorization fee (per donor) $ 0.50 or $1.50 if entered by Vanco Services
(changes to banking information: $0.50 or $1.50 if entered by Vanco Services)
• Transaction fee $ 0.25
• Application/setup fee None
• Monthly maintenance fee None
Donations from Credit Cards:
Do I need a swipe machine in order to accept credit cards? With Vanco's e.service®
Merchant Services, you can accept recurring and one-time credit card donations without
any equipment or software. And because recurring donations are automated, you will free up staff time
spent manually keying in credit card information.

KIOSKS
(A Kiosk Unit is placed in the church from which transactions
are performed. It also allows online giving through its website)
Securegive (http://securegive.com or 706-228-3210)
The Secure Give system is built around a giving kiosk that features a touch screen monitor, a magnetic stripe reader,
a receipt printer, a secure encrypted PIN pad, and an enclosure. When the donor steps up to the giving kiosk, he
or she will be led through a simple menu that will enable the contributor to donate to your ministry or your non-profit
organization. The first step in the Secure Give System provides the donor with the opportunity to donate anonymously
to the organization or to give a tax-deductible contribution. To receive tax credit, the contributor must fill out an
address form with a virtual keyboard. Once completed the contributor can designate his contributions to one of four
categories: tithe, general offering, building fund or missions. These categories can be customized to meet your
organization's's needs. When the transaction is completed a receipt containing a thank you note is dispensed.
This system is built to operate through a browser running Microsoft Windows XP. Each location must have a
broadband connection to the Internet. Electronic giving not only requires hardware and software, but a company
to process the actual transaction. Secure Give will setup each church or nonprofit organization with a merchant account.
