In many congregations it is a helpful and meaningful experience to have members recovenant with one another. It allows members to celebrate their involvement. It helps the congregation and church leaders know who desires to be part of the community. Recovenanting can create energy, health, direction and unity. Here are a couple of forms used for a re-covenanting focus.
Covenant Form #1
Our Commitments to One Another in the Sight of God
Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, we do now, in the presence of God most solemnly and joyfully enter into (or recommit to) a covenant with one another as one body in Christ. We pledge, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love, to strive for the advancement of this church in spiritual maturity, and to grow personally to be what Christ desires for me.
We further pledge to watch over one another in love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and trouble; to cultivate sympathy in feelings, actions, and courtesy in speech; to seek God's help in avoiding anything that might harm our own or another's faith; to be slow to take offense but always ready for reconciliation and to seek it without delay.
